New Year’s Resolutions For Your Travel Agency
Published on Wednesday, January 11, 2017
We’re more than a week into the new year and while you may or may not be going strong on your personal resolutions, how are you doing on your business resolutions? Have you made any plans or set any goals for your agency? Here are a few ideas that may
help your travel agency – and your travelers – in 2017.
Up Your Email Game
Chances are when you book a trip for a client, you get their email address. Aside from sending confirmations, do you do anything else with these emails? If you get permission, you can send additional emails and updates throughout the year. For example,
let them know if you have a new tour planned or remind past clients of the exciting time they had on their trip. Keeping your name in front of your clients may encourage them to book again.
Don’t have a marketing email list? There are plenty of free and low-cost email companies that can not only help you manage your list, but help you create the emails quickly and easily (Constant Contact and
MailChimp are two of the most popular). Don’t let technology scare you!
Promote Yourself More
If you are a good writer or take awesome photographs, have you considered being a guest contributor to a blog, newspaper or magazine? Submit articles and photographs to your favorite publications, but make sure you ask for them to include your agency’s
name and specialization as well. If you have a website, this type of effort can even help with your search engine optimization (SEO) and give you a slight boost in Google search results!
At RoamRight, we’re always on the lookout for guest bloggers – particularly if you have some piece of advice for other travel agents. Already have an idea? Send it to
marketing@roamright.com.
Enter a New Market
Perhaps you specialize in Disney vacations, and while we all know Disney is great at any age, maybe your clients are now more interested in river cruises since they became empty-nesters. Talk to your clients – even your past ones – to see if they are
interested in an experience that you haven’t offered before. There may be a travel need you haven’t yet considered. (One easy way to do this? Since you also just created an email list, you could use it to send out a quick survey!)
Surround Yourself With Great Partners
To fully succeed, any business needs great partners. Every business needs to work with good accountants, lawyers and bankers, but travel agencies require more. You want to make sure the partners that work directly with your clients offer the same great
service as you. Whether it’s a hotel you are recommending, a separate tour, or even your travel insurance provider, make sure you know and trust the people you work with.
Need a travel insurance provider? Or want to talk to a travel insurance expert? Contact us! We’d be happy to help you evaluate the plans you currently offer your clients.
We wish you the best of luck in 2017 – may your agency thrive and grow throughout the year!
