We barely remember spring and already summer is upon us! Unless of course you live in a region where it's just summer all the time. But even those fortunate enough to live in year-round warm climates shouldn't pass up the opportunity to peruse a visit in search of the biggest and best LGBT special events this summer. Be sure to check out one or more of these events happening around the country.
August 8th and 9th should be set aside for Chicago's 34th annual Northalsted Market Days. Attendees will be treated to an abundance of fun, art, food and performances. Basically a free-for-all featuring lots of skin, costumes, drinking (yes, grownup drinks), eating, concerts and vendors, this event has been known to attract more than 100,000 attendees. Although families are becoming more and more prevalent in the LGBT community, parents should be advised that this is not necessarily the most appropriate place for children.
While submissions for the 2015 celebration are no longer being accepted, you can still enjoy the shows. San Francisco and its East Bay are home to the biggest, most widely recognized and first of its kind exhibition of LGBT oriented films. Every June, a reported 63,000 people converge on this annual collection and display of short films, documentaries and full length features.
This year's Gay Wine Weekend by Out in the Vineyard runs from June 19th - 21st. The Sonoma County AIDS Network is the beneficiary of this tasty event featuring many of the most prestigious wineries and their luscious grape-based creations. Attendees will partake in a fabulous luxury pool party, wine auctions, a champagne brunch, tastings, excursions, VIP receptions, dancing, music and other assorted culinary temptations. When it comes to wine and luxury, few can rival Sonoma Valley and this is sure to be an event you don't want to miss.
One can hardly argue with anything New York when it comes to celebrations. This city wrote the book on the do-your-own-thing lifestyle, no matter what the occasion. The massive parade on Sunday is free but you'll need tickets to the other events. Though early bird rates have ended, you can still purchase tickets and attend New York's 22nd LGBT celebration of pride from June 21st - 28th. Daily themes consist of Family Night, The Rally, The Roof Party, Teaze, Master Beat's We Party, Pridefest, The March and of course the June 28th Dance On The Pier.
Rounding out the season is 2015's Gayla event in sunny Las Vegas. This year, all eyes turn to September 8th - 14th for pool parties, expos, clubbing, tours, shows, shopping, parades, music and dancing. So incredible is this Vegas celebration that other warm weather venues have designed their LGBT Pride events with this very one in mind!

Auston grew up in Phoenix before escaping to Chicago in 2008. After 4 years working as an engineer, he sold his belongings and embarked on a round-the-world trip. After traveling non-stop for a year, he finally settled in Spain with his husband where he now calls home. When he's not traveling or writing guides about events, festivals or the best LGBT destinations, he enjoys the long sunny days and nightlife of Madrid.
