Travel Resources

A good traveler knows all the best resources to have a safe and secure trip. Our travel tips blog has comprehensive information. However, there are other travel resources you can use to be prepared for your trip.

There are so many things that make your trip possible: transportation, tour guides, weather, government agencies, and so on. Learning all about each of them makes you a better prepared traveler.

Fortunately, information is readily available online. Here is a list of travel resources you can use to help prepare for your trip:

  • RoamRight Assistance Services – Your RoamRight Trip Insurance Plans comes with a suite of assistance services that you can access 24/7 via our hotline. You can receive help with translations, directions, concierge services, and much more! RoamRight is there for you no matter where you travel.
  • U.S. State Department – If you need to obtain or renew travel documents, such as visas and passports, the U.S State Department will help you. This agency of diplomacy is also a good resource for learning foreign rules and policies.
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection – Travelers to foreign countries should learn more about this agency, which manages trade and travel in the US. They mostly deal with border security and imports/exports, but can also answer questions about what items (like food) you are allowed bring back with you.
  • Federal Aviation Administration Flight Delay Information – You can check on general airport conditions through the FAA’s website. However, if you want information about a specific flight, you should check with your airline or airport.
  • Center for Disease Control – The kinds of diseases a traveler can encounter will vary from country to country. Oftentimes, foreigners aren’t aware of how to protect themselves when they travel to a new country. The CDC provides travel health information regarding vaccination requirements, outbreaks, and clinic locations.
  • National Weather Service – In many cases, weather alone can make or break the success of your trip. You can use the NOAA’s website to research the types of weather you may encounter during your trip. You may also want to visit the National Hurricane Center to stay informed of developing storms.
  • Transportation Security Administration – The TSA protects transportation systems around the US. They are mainly known for their work at airports screening passengers for safe and secure travel. Their website contains a lot of information about their screening process and special needs accommodations.
  • NAVTEQ Traffic.com – This is a great resource for those planning a road trip. You can get detailed traffic information and directions to plot the fastest routes for your travels.
