Visiting Washington State

The Pacific Northwest is a unique slice of Americana and Washington state is a popular destination to experience it. There’s a little something for every type of traveler here – you can jump from a bustling city, to a secluded forest, to a stunning shoreline. It’s a must see region for any US traveler. Just a few highlights include:

Seattle

This major city has a lot going on. It wouldn’t be hard to plan an entire vacation around Seattle alone. Its most famous landmark is arguably the Space Needle – which is one of the tallest structures in the US. Stepping out onto the viewing deck lets you see the entire city and miles beyond. You may even find yourself at eye-level with a passing bi-plane. When you come down, you enjoy the dozens of other attractions in the Seattle Center including the food scene at Pike Place Market, The Experience Music Project (a rock ‘n’ roll museum) and the Science Fiction Museum.

Innovation

Many beloved companies call Washington state home, and they love the customers and fans that have helped build them up. You can visit the very first Starbuck’s coffeehouse, the Microsoft Visitors Center, and Nintendo of America – which has a one-of-a-kind gift shop for both kids and kids-at-heart – among others.

Nature Trails and National Parks

For all its big cities and corporations, Washington State is home to some of the best hiking in the US – especially in many of the parks surrounding Lake Washington. There are also many national parks, including:

• Mount Rainier
• Olympic National Park
• North Cascades
• Mt. St. Helens Volcanic Monument

Weather

Planning a trip to Washington requires that you make some seasonal considerations. While the state has some breathtaking springtime weather, it’s known for being cloudy and dreary most of the year. Plan accordingly. 

Of course, this is just a fraction of what the state offers. There is much to see and do in Washington state – you may need several vacations for the full experience!
