Why buy ski and snowboard travel insurance

Even if you are an expert skier, accidents can happen. Travel insurance can cover emergency medical treatment in case you have a skiing accident, and medical evacuation coverage can get you out of the mountains and into a hospital to get you the proper care you need.

Also, equipment is a major part of this trip. So we offer enhanced baggage coverage as an upgrade to cover the loss, damage, or delay of skis, ski poles, ski bindings, ski boots, snowboards, snowboard bindings, snowboard boots, snowblades and other recognized snow sports equipment.

Weather, of course, is another factor that can make or break your plans on a ski trip. With ski season travel insurance, if your trip is cancelled or interrupted due to a covered reason (such as a blizzard resulting in flight cancellations), benefits are provided for the costs of unused non-refundable deposits and payments, like non-refundable prepaid lift tickets, equipment rentals, and lessons.

What does ski travel insurance cover?

Under an Arch RoamRight travel insurance plan, you can have coverage for:

• Trip Cancellation: If you can’t go on your trip due to an unexpected reason
• Trip Interruption: If you’re already on your trip and need to return home for an unexpected reason
• Emergency Accident & Sickness Medical Expense: For medical emergencies that may occur when traveling
• Emergency Dental Expense: For dental emergencies that may occur when traveling
• Medical Evacuation: In an emergency, provides transportation to a medical facility that can provide appropriate care
• Security Evacuation: Assistance in the event of natural disaster, civil uprising, military coup, or political unrest
• Baggage & Personal Effects Coverage: If your baggage is lost, stolen, damaged, or delayed
• Accidental Death & Dismemberment: Coverage in the event of death or loss of limb and/or sight; available in both regular AD&D coverage as well as Common Carrier Air Only Coverage
• Repatriation of Remains: If a tragedy occurs, covers the return of your remains to your home
• Sports Coverage: Coverage for a number of specific activities such as parachuting or SCUBA diving
• Flight Insurance: Covers any number of incidents that may happen when traveling by air
  
• Collision Damage Waiver: Coverage for renting a vehicle
• Cancel for Work Reasons: If you need to cancel your trip in order to meet certain requirements placed upon you by your place of employment.

What does winter ski insurance not cover?

While traditional winter skiing and snowboarding is covered under all RoamRight plans, the following types of skiing and related activities are not covered under any Arch RoamRight travel insurance plan:

• Extreme skiing
• Skiing outside marked trails
• Heli-skiing
• Any race or speed contest

RoamRight plans also do not provide coverage for a winter sports vacation that is affected by a lack of snow.
