Mike Hinshaw

Mike Hinshaw was born in Austin Texas in 1950 and grew up in many small towns in Texas. From ages 8- 16, he helped his father publish a few small weekly newspapers in Texas; this included writing, operating a linotype, proofing, stuffing sections, etc. Mike graduated from Arlington High School in 1968 and attended University of Texas at Arlington for two years as a business major. Six Flags promoted Mike into a full-time management position, and at that point he left college. Mike held a buyer position at Six Flags and started traveling to SE Asia at 23, for two months each year. He went into multi-unit retail for the next thirty years. Mike held EVP, COO & Division Manager positions and oversaw divisions, regions and companies of 200 units plus. He recently retired and started writing a book. He then started Nomadic Texan, a blog oriented towards travel and food, after his wife gave him the funds to establish the domain, host serving, etc. Mike’s recent travels include Japan, where his oldest son lives, Mexico and Ecuador.
